Cheapest, lowest grade productApr 25, 2010
By I. Smirnov This is the cheapest chess clock one can buy and you get what you pay for. The instructions are an example of poor translation, with incorrect word usage, grammar and abundance of misplaced punctuation (exclamation points in the middle of a sentence). If you already know how chess clock works, it is not a problem. But this clock is intended for a novice, and it took me a while to figure it out. Next, battery is difficult to install (you need to fit it against a spring in a deep compartment). Battery compartment door is so weak that the battery occasionally falls out during a game, when a button is slapped instead of gently pushed. If you can deal with all that, it is a product for you. Good luck!

It's hugeJul 15, 2011
By Ivy Just wanted to let you know, this clock is enormous. It's the biggest chess clock I've ever seen. One reviewer pointed out that the well for the battery is deap, and she's right--Marianas Trench deap--but I was able to pull out the battery easily enough. It will fit into many of the oversized chess bags running around today, but then again, so will a mid-sized Buick.
Seriously, this is a great clock. It works well. It's easy to read (from 500 yards because it's so freakishly large) and it's easy to set and operate. Overall, I'm very pleased.

And Goldilocks Said, "This was JUST RIGHT!"Dec 01, 2011
By K. Groh Although chess is often played in our house, we do not time it. So my review is based on the product as well as the specific need we had for this unit.
In regards to its intended use, it seems like it would fit the ticket. It is lightweight, easy to carry but has a very clear face with a brightly colored flag and second hand. The unit starts and stops easily with the push of a top button but can also freeze both clocks by keeping the buttons in an even level. The clocks are easy to reset at the back and have a locking clip for each top button.
Now, we needed to buy these because my son has trouble overusing the computer and watching TV. Time passes for him with little concept of how much has passed. So we needed a way to keep track (without being the computer/TV police) of how much he is using each day. One side is TV usage, the other side is computer/video usage. It remains cumulative until he resets it each day. He is in control of keeping track, I don't have to be the bad buy telling him to get off the computer again, and on and on.
It was the perfect solution to our problem. Yeah! Now if I could just get him to wash the dishes...

Very rarely do I "review" a product but felt compelled to because of how satisfied I have been with this one. I bought this chess clock for my younger nephew who has just started playing chess competitively. He absolutely loves it! He especially likes the "cool" chess crest design on the face of it; he feels like his is so much more unique than any of his other friend's clocks. I have been searching online everywhere to find the perfect one & this was by far the best one...and one of the most reasonably priced to boot!

A+ For Chess ClubsJul 15, 2010

Bought ten of these clocks for our high school chess club because they were the most affordable option. Glad I did because they are also very durable and simple to use. The clocks have sustained much use and we haven't encountered any issues so far. Affordable, durable, and simple to use. Would recommend them.
