Bought this as a birthday gift for my six year old because it looked like a better quality game than the others listed on Amazon and it is definitely solid wood (not laminated or particle board like most "wooden" games these days). I like that it folds for two reasons: 1) my daughter can take it with her easily to school or on vacations, and 2) when it's folded, the magnetic closure keeps it closed so all the pretty stones store inside. I played this game as a child, and I love that I found a good one for my kiddo. Would recommend this one!

Item is well built. Unfortunately, you can't fit more than 6 pieces in a pocket before it overflows. This can be pretty annoying when you are trying to play.

I loved this game as a kid, and was more than happy to buy it for my 6-year-old son. We play this game almost every night. My only complaint is that the gems are nice, but the 6 holes are very small so once you get a few gems in there they don't fit well and tend to fall out. It's great for not losing the gems or for travel (as intended), but I'm looking for a larger wooden board to make play a little easier (or less frustrating when the gems pile up!).

My daughter's friend has a Mancala game that folds and they have been playing it all the time. This one here is beautiful. As other reviewers have noted, it is solid wood, it folds up, the magnets hold it together well, and the glass stones are quite pretty. While it is true that the cups do not hold too many stones at once, you can still play the game and it does not bother us. It is a portable version of Mancala and we have no complaints so far. All in all, this is such a fun and wonderful game!
