 Just about everything I hoped for.Nov 17, 2010

- I received my chess sets today and was very excited (Hey, I'm a nerd. What do you expect?). I was first impressed by the quality of the vinyl board. It's a little thicker and sturdier than I expected and lays out nicely (the corner curls go away after about 5 minutes).
- The pieces come in ziploc bags, two of which burst open during shipping but all pieces were accounted for and hey, that's what the little black bag is for.
- Speaking of the little black bag, it looked like cloth on the website but it turns out to be tightly woven vinyl threads and has a sturdy zipper, an unexpected plus. It should last for a very long time and the front design is nice; it says, "I know my chess but I'm still a fun guy!" At least it would if bags could talk.
- The pieces, however, were a little disappointing. I remember other triple weighted sets feeling heavier than these. In fact, I think they feel more like double weighted but I've been working out so who knows. You may have to judge for yourself.
All-in-all, I would say this is a very good deal for a durable, weighted, tournament qualifying set. I would have given this set 4.5 stars but that is not an option.

This set's pieces are far too light to be labeled triple weighted, they don't even feel like double weighted. I was expecting that you could put the board in the bag as well as the pieces, just as a friend can, but the pieces hardly fit there. Apart from that everything is the way it should be

I really looked at all the different sets out there. This one has weighted pieces that are a pleasure to move and the zippered pouch is well constructed. Thinking of joining the chess club, so this set will be nice and easy to transport. Highly recommend this seller and product.

Love, love it. Board is perfect for traveling and the pieces are large and triple weighted. A great value for the money!!

I bought this set primarily for the pieces (we have a nice wooden board) but figured it would be nice to have a travel mat as well. The pieces are weighted nicely. They look like plastic because they are, but they still have a nice finished look. Hard to beat if you don't mind having plastic pieces.
