I purchased this game for a holiday gift exchange and actually ended up taking it home myself! Remembering that this 9" size game is meant for travel, it was much nicer than I had anticipated. I admit, I scanned the product description much too fast when I ordered it b/c I missed the bit about the magnetic pieces so I was really excited when I discovered this during play because it doesn't look like all those other magnetic travel games with the bits of metal sticking out of the pieces.
I purchased this game in blue and although the lighting in photo makes it look dark (almost black) it really is more blue in person. I would order this game again, but I would have avoided the $7 shipping fee (a total of $28.90 is a bit on the high side) and waiting a few more days with Amazon's super saver free shipping would have been perfect. I guess I'm just too impatient! Overall, this is a very nice travel game and I think you'll like it - I do!

Two boys who love itMay 13, 2007

We have two boys, 6 and 8. Their grandfather taught them to play backgammon, and they were hooked. We bought this travel version, and we've taken everywhere. If we expect to wait somewhere, like at a play or show, we'll play while we wait. We took it to the Caribbean, and played on the airplane and while we were there. The zipper around the edge helps keep it closed, and keeps pieces from being lost. The magnetic pieces let us play on laps or in planes. The size is great for putting in a backpack so you can have it anywhere. Highly recommended.

This is a durable, travel type Backgammon that zips around the sides. The leather case is pretty, and the zipper prevents the loss of pieces. The game teaches adding skills for young kids and strategy. It is fun for any age. This classic game has been proven by the test of time.

This travel backgammon set was a gift to my four children for Christmas before we went away on a trip. None of them even knew how to play backgammon before we received it, though I love the game. We took the set on a beach vacation and had a great time with it. It is well made, attractive, and magnetic so the pieces don't go flying all around when you are playing or when you are just carrying the case around. Also, the game came with good directions and tips for the game, plus a little history for those who are interested. An excellent product!

It was not nearly as durable as one would hope. Flimsy and not put together with good craftsmanship. The pieces are not well magnetized and don't remain on the board. The case looks like cheap vinyl rather than nice leather. Not worth it; wish I'd bought one elsewhere.
