Nice chess setNov 28, 2011

These are nice pieces with a large roll up board. If you've played on small or strange chess sets before this will be a break for your eyes and your brain. It's very easy to see each piece on the green white board and the pieces are large but not too large for the size of the board.
As advertised, this set comes with unweighted pieces. This means they don't weigh much and are constructed of hollow plastic. If you're looking for a weighted set, they sell this same one with weighted inserts that will offer a much heavier feel to your pieces. This one works fine, but just be aware that the pieces aren't weighted.

I love it because it's nice & big to play with --the right size, & it's light & portable & flexible. All you need is a flat surface to lay it on set up the pieces & start playing immediately. Also it's very good on the eyes & easy to see where all the pieces --black & white are because you can see the black pieces clearly against the green squares. I can't think of any way to improve it!

The pieces aren't weighted, but have a good feel to them. The vinyl board is extremely durable. The size of the pieces are good (3 3/4" king). The pieces look nice. Light-weight and durable enough for me to take backpacking and still play a game of chess I enjoy I (I can't stand playing on tiny boards with tiny pieces). A great buy. Can't go wrong for a full set of pieces with extra queens and a board for <$20.
Note: I have since purchased new chess pieces that are weighted and slightly bigger for non-camping play. You may want to consider getting heavier pieces if the weight and feel of the pieces is really important to you.
